Nuclear Safety Specialist

Location: Various DOE Sites, including Savannah River Site/Aiken, SC; Los Alamos, NM; Oak Ridge, TN; and Richland, WA
   
Responsibilities:

This position involves performing safety basis and safety analysis at various DOE sites, including the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC; Los Alamos, NM; Oak Ridge, TN; and Richland, WA. 

   
Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizen; must hold or be eligible for DOE clearance
  • BS in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Four (4) or more years’ experience in development of safety basis documents in accordance with DOE 10 CFR 830 or NRC SER process
  • Demonstrated experience in performance of hazard analyses in accordance with nuclear or chemical industry standards
  • Hands-on experience in performing accident analyses for DOE facilities using methodologies described in DOE-STD-3009, DOE-STD-3010, and DOE-STD-5506.
  • Experience with DOE ToolBox computer codes (e.g., MACCS2)
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Strong communications and writing skills
  • Ability to interface with technical personnel as well as senior DOE officials
  • Knowledge of DOE Environmental Management, Savannah River Site, or National Laboratory facilities
