Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL) International, Inc., a growing government contractor, is recruiting multiple actinide chemists positions, based on experience, training, and education. Positions include Junior Analytical Chemist, Mid-Level Actinide Chemist, or Senior Actinide Chemist. We are looking for an energetic, matured, and organized professional to join our team. Responsibilities:
The chemists will perform hands-on actinide chemistry activities for production of uranium oxide impurity standards (to replace CRM 124). The chemists must have experience to develop the gravimetric method for uranium assay.
Requirements:
A Bachelor degree in analytical chemistry or a related area. Provide expertise related to highly enriched uranium work on isotopic ratios for age determination. Experience and expertise in ICP/MS, Thermal Ionization Mass Spectroscopy, and Alpha Spectroscopy, and the separation chemistry is required (e.g., to separate Uranium isotopes from the daughter Thorium isotopes). Perform age determination of highly enriched uranium (which is highly coveted due its high strategic relevance) and experience in validation of the Fissile Material Cut-off Treaty. Coordinate and perform analytical work on the Pu-244 isotopic spike CRM project (including verification of the test portion and work on the enriched production portion). Chemists must have proper training to work in a DOE facility or a laboratory which requires strict conduct of operation and contamination controls. The candidate must be familiar with the use of calibration in standard methods, non-standard methods, and laboratory-developed methods and the management system and technical requirements within ISO 17025. Familiar with the analytical methods utilized similar to American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standards developed by ASTM Committee C26 (Nuclear Fuel Cycle), including but not limited to C26.05 (Methods of Test) and C26.08 (Quality Assurance, Statistical Applications, and Reference Materials). U.S. Citizenship is required. Must have or be able to acquire a top secret clearance with U.S. Government.
Preferred:
Advance degree is preferred. These positions require the ability to keep sensitive information confidential and the ability to work in a fast paced environment. Ideal candidate must have effective written and oral communication skills.
